Overview

Introducing our collection of bespoke shepherds huts at Westwell Downs

Westwell Downs is about recharging, reconnecting and relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether you are in need of some down time by yourself, a romantic getaway for two or a countryside retreat for six, our bespoke and well-appointed Shepherd Huts offer everything you need.

The sleeping area boasts a king size bed made up with luxury British bed linen and cosy woollen throws, is separated from the living area with a half partition. Two patchwork wingback chairs looking over the paddock provide the perfect place to relax after a day exploring while taking in the sunset. Cooking couldn’t be easier in the well-equipped kitchen area with a hob, combi oven and breakfast bar. The ensuite at the end of the hut has a flushing toilet, basin and walk in shower so you can enjoy your stay in comfort.

Our huts are kept warm all year round with a Hobbit woodburning stove and under floor heating making them the perfect bolt hole whatever the season.

Although we welcome guests who want to escape the real world for a few days, we also understand that keeping in touch with the outside world or getting on with a bit of work is important. Each hut has a TV and WiFi for those who want to enjoy a workcation in the glorious countryside.

Outside your hut is a decked area to enjoy al fresco dining with a parasol to provide cover or shade and its own fire pit and wood fired hot tub for the perfect holiday vibes.

We always want to go the extra mile to ensure your visit is as comfortable as possible, so we provide towels, robes, slippers and a hairdryer along with a welcome box on arrival. A variety of breakfast packs and hampers are available to order at time of booking and will be delivered to your hut.

Accommodation

Cosy huts, thoughtfully kitted out for a restful stay

Come down the short drive and find your own parking spot by your hut. Follow the gravel path to the door and step up into your private sanctuary. Set up for self-catering, you will find a cute kitchen with oven and hob. Dine inside by the warming log burning stove or outside on the fire pit on your private terrace. Each hut is fully connected with underfloor heating and free WIFI too.

Outside

Wallow in your hot tub or swim further in our pool

There are few things more rewarding than stoking up the firebox to heat up fresh water in your own hot tub. To lie back and gaze at the stars as dusk falls is such a simple pleasure. It soothes your body, mind and soul. We also have a lovely outdoor heated swimming pool, available during the summer months by arrangement. Set in a secluded spot in the farmhouse gardens, just a short walk from the huts, we are delighted to make it available during your stay.

Optional Extras

Let us look after you while you're here

If you don't fancy cooking, we will have a selection of home-cooked frozen meals available to buy. If you're staying with a party in all three huts and fancy pushing the boat out to celebrate a special occasion, Charlie can create the perfect meal for you, with full chef's table service complete with wine pairings. Get in touch to discuss this with us before your stay.

Our farm is situated in a gloriously sheltered spot near Burford. We observe traditional farming activities, and manage much of the land for keeping livestock, including sheep and horses at livery. Working in harmony with nature and the seasons, we are rewarded with abundant birds and wildlife and provide the perfect environment for bees to thrive on wildflower meadows. You can enjoy honey from the hives here on the farm during your stay. From the steps of your shepherd hut you can explore for miles down winding lanes flanked by Cotswolds stone walls. A network of footpaths lead to some of the most stunning valleys. Hire a bicycle from us and pedal away for a picnic while you drink in far reaching views. You don't have to go far to feel like you're a world away from the hubbub. If that all sounds just too energetic, we can recommend historic houses to visit, gin distilleries to tour and taste and some amazing food places to try. We are really looking forward to welcoming you to Westwell Downs.
